Oil on found cabinet door 22 x 26" Forgot about Red Grooms as an influence but this reminds me. I saw a hilarious show in Chicago when I was an art student in Milwaukee and later happened upon Rukus Manhattan at Marlboro Gallery, NYC. The influence is indirect I think,...maybe allowed me to see the value in kids' drawings, cartoons & humor. Dubuffet was there for that also. Cross fertilization. Thither they go.... thither & yon, we go. Daughter made a trip to NY with me and came up with these yellow cab images. |
