Another cabinet door... the imagery derives from drawings i've done while waiting for the copy machine to do up a batch, at Emory Library & earlier when I worked at the (groan) IRS, about 1998 I think. I'd just quickly fill space with shapes, lines... ended up with bunches of'em and selected one for this painting. Did the edge as a framing device, using shapes similar, probably shrinking'em from that pile of resource drawings. Reminescent for me of the time I was using Islamic grid (see main contents 1972-4 which followed a period of Kandinsky/Klee-ish abstraction). |
