My painting instructor at art school, Durwood Dommissee, remarked that when it came to nudes Cezanne was such a prude
that he just couldn't concentrate. This painting was inspired by Cezanne's Bathers. It leaves plenty of stained brown canvas, the
"unfinished" look Cezanne & later Picasso fancied. Is it the same
couple from three different views? From three different ages?
Only the Cubists know for sure.
