Tom Ferguson & James Marsh Jim did the head, a portrait of
me... he was working on it, taking forever I thought, still only had
the head on an otherwise blank masonite panel. We were in adjacent
cubicles in grad school at MSU. So one night when he wasn't around I
put the head in context... I couldn't wait to see his face the next day
& wouldn't you know it he was pissed... and gave it to me but not
with generosity. He said it looked like a "bad him." I can see how he
might have felt a little put out but I thought with his great sense of
humor he'd appreciate the surprise. Much later I cut out the head &
still have it.
