Whitecap © 1998 Tom Ferguson Still got it. oil on canvas 90 x 30".. I
stood on a knoll, looking down at the beach in Marquette, Michigan,
Lake Superior, home town, and saw a peculiar woman below, sketched
her & later, back in Atlanta, worked it up into this painting.
My interest in impasto returns abit in this one, in the jacket
area. I love how whitecap refers to her hat and the breaking
of a wave, choppy water... and the stylized, off-hand way of
representing this scene, allowing the implications to wash over
one, tongue-in-cheek, yet.... |
