This was my first one-artist show in Atlanta. Influenced by
Gilbert & George I convinced four friends to pose during the
opening as high/low ends of the class struggle... with "war" paint. I
recorded some piano/vocal improvisations a la John Cage which played
also during the reception, now lost. In one corner I erected 3 hollow
core doors hinged together with "peek" holes
& stationed
myself in there for the opening & observed to my delight the
people
coming in, walking through, trying to peek in at me. By the end of the
night, quite drunk, I lay on the floor of the now empty gallery in a
state of what i'd call delerious triumph. The first image is the
gallery entry where 10 paintings greeted folks & ushered them
into
the main space. The
paintings were arranged not quite sequentially, in the order they were
painted, showing the evolution to minimal abstraction then onto wordy
conceptual & high impasto works. There are two sculptures and
the
first of my apple jug editions which I accumulated as I
dropped matchsticks into containers after lighting my stove. As of 2010 the "edition" is complete at 18 jugs.

The face colors are red/green. You can see the peek holes.. & the wine.
