The image that these derive from was a wonderfully economical charcoal drawing one of my elementary students did... laying the stick flat he swiped once, w/just the right twist & there it was. The next nine pages have in common the cup as subject. The appeal of this image is partially my coffee addiction, it is a comfort to hold a warm cup, and it provides an opportunity to step back & consider one's next choice. I put backing strips to hold the work off the wall, creating that
shadow and "lift", that floating effect.
