Did this for a show at the Swan Coach House, Atlanta, curated by Marianne Lambert, late 2005 - Artists Paint Their Pets. ...surrounded the central image with smaller sketches from a book I started when we got the pup, now a full grown second mortgage. One of my neighbors gave me the leftover tongue & groove from his floor project, high quality stuff. Used some to put this together. You can see my fingers & nose since I cut this out of a larger photo of me holding the painting. It's not strictly a portrait since the central image is just made up based on some dog paintings I did from sketches of my sister's dog waaaaaay back in the 80s & some I did in Hawaii, deriving also from those which were bought by Joe & Hea Jung Ruesing. |
