Cat Having Jamais Vu © 1984
Tom Ferguson oil/c. 27 x 24"
collection Clay Rolader Jamais Vu I got from the book Catch 22 where he lists the concepts
expressed by the French - Deja Vu (before seen), Presque Vu (almost seen) and Jamais Vu (never seen).
The second is tip-of-the tongue where you can't quite remember something, the third is where the
ordinary takes on a strange or unfamiliar cast - where you come into the now after long periods of being
in your head, in mind chatter? Deja is familiar to most folks I think, where what you're experiencing seems a repeat of
something that happened before, maybe in a dream.
